About the
artist &artwork
A shabby backyard tree from childhood might be remembered as a towering, sienna Oak, awaiting its next great adventure. Or, a house that was once a home, still lives on in the bright memory of the light seeping through the front door. The darkest times are often matched with the greatest need for escape. Slipping away into dreamlike memories allows one to suspend time for a moment; briefly living in grandiose story. I hope my work sparks a sense of familiar nostalgia in the viewer, giving them a craving for their own treasured stories and a gentle push to step in and escape.
My journey as an artist started with a special, old window I painted for my mother. I was drawn to the window’s natural position as a storyteller and its ability to focus one’s point of view. This led me to discover the heart of my work in the blended relationship between memories and imagination and the narrative that lies between.
